Times of Reflection

I was in bible study the other night and we were reading/discussing Philemon. In our discussion, we talked about how Philemon’s slaves were going to have to go back to him after stealing and running from him. It’s never easy to take the road back to something from your past, which you’ve overcome and been forgiven. There’s a struggle in our minds, we mentally go back to that place. While we take the journey back down the road of struggle, we come to understand exactly how God blessed us in “that” situation. We were able to get out of “it” and build ourselves up to be the great person we are today. It’s easy to get through something, but forget the blessings and transformations that came from what you went through. It is in those moments of reflection we understand God’s track record is beast mode! If he did it before, he can and will do it again.

On today I look back one year ago as I prepared to go in for surgery. I had never had surgery or better yet been in the hospital (beyond being born), yet there I was in the hospital to have one of my ovaries removed due to a mass. I think of the thoughts of fear that flooded my mind just months, weeks and days leading to that moment. However, as I look back I’m so beyond thankful for all that came from that situation, the miracles, the prayers, and the manifestation of God, as he allowed me to overcome; not just that I may just live but to live abundantly and tell my testimony of how he healed me and kept me through it all. And for that, I say thank you for times of reflection! Where have your times of reflection brought you? Thanksgiving, an overwhelming feeling of love, an elevation in your faith? Never forget to take those times of reflection and understand the blessing that came from the struggle.
