#ReleasingTheGift

As I was listening to my pastor’s sermon on Sunday, I had a thought of gifts. We all get excited when someone tells us or presents to us a gift. Who doesn’t like a gift, right? For me it could be something as simple as a card or gift card (smile) and I’m excited; and for others it could be clothes, shoes, makeup, and the list goes on and on. But what if someone had a gift for you but they just chose not to give it to you. How would you feel? I personally would be mad! I mean, why tell me or show me you have a gift for me and not give it to me or allow me to have it?

As my pastor went on with his sermon speaking on miracles and allowing God to turn our natural into his supernatural, I keep thinking about gifts, our gifts. Each of us have our own gifts we can offer to others, but many of us are not using these gifts as we should. Someone is waiting for your book, your business idea, your song, your blog or podcast, your words of encouragement. But so often we hold on to our gifts, whether the reason is fear, lack of faith or whatever, you’re still holding out on the gift God gave for you to share with the world.

I struggle with insecurities, fears, and so on, so when I speak these words of encouragement it’s not just for you, it’s for me. Each of us must stop holding back on our gifts and release it to the world. Each of us has a purpose here on earth and with that purpose it requires us to reach out to others and be a blessing. It’s time for us to let it go, release our gifts!

Practical Application: Make a list of your gifts, then make a list of ways that you can release that gift so that it can be used to be a blessing to others and yourself. I can’t wait to hear from you on this one. Share your progress on social media and on this blog post. Use the hashtag, #releasingthegift
